Frequently Asked Questions

Eyebrows are one of the biggest factors when it comes to creating symmetry and enhancing your face as a whole. They frame your eyes and can elevate your entire look! Our clients only regret not booking sooner and say having their brows done increased their confidence and saved them time and effort each day.

"Permanent make-up, microblading, power brows, ombre brows, combo brows, nano brows", etc. are all similar terms used to describe cosmetic eyebrow tattooing.

The service includes pigment being gently implanted just below the dermis to enhance your natural beauty. Each service is custom designed to the individual client based off of their facial features, bone structure, hair color, skin-type, and skin-tone.

Lip Blushing can also define the shape of your lips and create symmetry, oftentimes giving the illusion of bigger, plumper lips while also giving them a healthy, subtle glow.

Lip Blush service includes shaping your lips to create symmetry and fullness, then implanting a color to compliment your skin-tone and undertones. This service can correct hyperpigmentation, fordyce spots, "white border", and general discoloration.

Is it painful?

Pain is subjective as everyone has a different pain tolerance. You may feel slight discomfort, but the results far outweigh this. Two highly effective numbing agents are used during your brow appointment. We often have clients fall asleep during their service! Many clients rate their eyebrow service as a 1 or 2 on a pain scale of 1-10, and compare it to tweezing or threading the eyebrows.
Numbing is not typically provided during a lip blushing service as the lips tend to be more sensitive to numbing agents and can cause extreme swelling. However numbing is available upon request. Clients often fall asleep during their lip blushing service. We have found that the most sensitive clients are smokers and/or vape users.

Do you use a clean needle every time?

Absolutely. Every client gets a new single-use needle and can observe me removing the needle from a sterile pre-packaged casing. Needles are then disposed of into a sharps container and picked up by a biohazard disposal service.

How long does it last?

There are many factors that play a role in retention.

The biggest factor when it comes to retention is skin-type. Clients with oily skin, large pores, ruddy complexion, etc. tend to require more frequent touch-ups than clients with dry skin.
Aftercare and lifestyle also plays a huge role. Clients are provided an aftercare kit with instructions and supplies after their initial visit. On average, brows can last 1-3 years (after touch-up) and lips 1-5 years (after touch-up). Results are 40% your artist, 40% aftercare, and 20% skin-type and lifestyle.
Sweating, sun exposure, smoking, frequent chemical peels, anti-aging skin care, certain health conditions, etc. can all effect retention.

How long is the appointment and what does it consist of?

Appointment times vary depending on the service but we ask that you plan to spend at least 2-3 hours with us for your initial service.
The service begins with a quick consultation (if needed), where Marissa will answer any questions and make sure the service booked is going to give you the best results based on your skin-type. You will then proceed to the mapping portion. This is often the longest part of the appointment. Marissa is extremely detailed and focused when it comes to shaping as this is the most important step to ensure you receive flattering brows that provide symmetry, fit your face, and enhance your natural beauty. The procedure will not begin until you give your full approval of the custom shape.
Once the shape is approved, Marissa will choose a color based on your skin color, skin-tone, and hair color. She will then begin the procedure. Once the procedure is complete, Marissa will verbally go over aftercare and provide the aftercare kit while answering any questions you may have. It is recommended to book your touch-up appointment at this time.

You mentioned a touch-up appointment? When and why is this necessary?

Touch-up appointments are highly recommended for brows and required for lip blushing. Touch-ups should ideally be booked for 8-10 weeks after the initial session. Think of painting your nails or painting a wall-oftentime the first coat may be streaky or patchy. A second coat is needed to blend everything together. Touch-ups are considered the "perfecting" session, where any patchiness or lightness can be made even and shape can be adjusted. Most clients require 2 sessions for their brows, and then will not need another touch up for 1-3 years. In rare instances, clients may need an extra touch up session if their skin does not retain the pigment well.
Lip Blush clients will need a touch-up to achieve desired results. Lips heal at a different rate than the skin and often heal much lighter (50% lighter for lips compared to 20-30% lighter for brows).

Am I a candidate for permanent make-up if I'm pregnant?

Unfortunately permanent make-up is not safe for women pregnant or nursing. Pregnancy causes hormonal changes in the body which can lead to undesirable results. Please see the full list of contraindications.
